From the San Francisco Contemplarium:
Let’s gather to honor our intentions for this year.
Winter Ingathering: A Ritual of Renewal
As winter begins to give way to the sprouts of spring, we’ll gather for an afternoon of gentle reflection, connection, and renewal. Here in our local natural world, the rainy season is a time for rooting, incubation, and quiet preparation beneath the soil. As spring approaches and daylight grows, seeds germinate as they give birth to possibility and future.
In that same spirit, this ritual is about pausing at the threshold between “what has made me who I am” (our rainy soil) and “who I choose to become” (our germinating seeds)—honoring the stories, places, and people that have shaped us, and making the choice to move toward the kinds of lives and values we want to embody as a new season approaches.
Expect a warm, cozy atmosphere with simple guided reflections and time in pairs or small groups. We’ll work with tangible symbols like seeds, soil, and shared words to explore questions like: What truly matters to me? What do I want to carry forward from my roots? Who am I becoming this year, as life begins to sprout again around me?
No prior experience with ritual or spirituality is needed—just bring yourself, your curiosity, and whatever this winter has been incubating in you as we prepare to step into spring with a bit more clarity and agency.
