ADA Restroom nears completion

In 2008, San Francisco passed a Park Bond that included funding for restroom renovation in order to bring San Francisco restrooms into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

As part of our park renovation project, Rec and Park put funds together from the 2008 and 2012 bond in order to fully fund both the irrigation replacement project and the restroom renovation project.

Rec and Park is on track to complete both projects in Spring 2017.

Park reopening pushed to Spring 2017

Rain over the past several weeks has slowed irrigation trenching and other earthwork, pushing the anticipated park reopening into the early spring. Fortunately, this winter’s ample rainfall has not only ended the drought in the Bay Area, but has also been tremendously beneficial to the establishment of the park’s new lawn and trees.

Pathway repaving is now scheduled to begin in late February. This work will also include the replacement of catch basins and other drainage lines, which will improve drainage throughout the park. Construction of the new ADA-compliant restroom is also nearing completion as decorative metalwork and final finishes are installed.

Thank you for your patience as we move toward the long-awaited reopening of the park!
